Dr. Austin Kooba M.D. serves as an Ob/Gyn physician working for Calexico Wellness Center. His duties in this position encompass the full scope of women’s health care, including prenatal, menopausal, and contraceptive services. At Calexico Wellness Center, Dr. Kooba aims to improve the medical culture in Imperial County by combining evidence-based medicine with personalized care. He encourages shared decision-making, educating patients, treatment options, and preventive measures. During his career as an Ob/Gyn physician, Dr. Austin Kooba spent nearly two decades with The Permanente Medical Group in Santa Rosa. He held many additional roles with the organization, including seven years as the medical director of maternal and child care and two years as the site director for obstetrics and gynecology resident physicians at Kaiser Oakland.
Dr. Austin Kooba’s career has also included extensive work in education, highlighted by 14 years as an associate clinical professor at the University of California, San Francisco. In 2011, he received Teacher of the Year honors.
Dr. Kooba received his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. He continued his medical education at the Medical University of South Carolina, completing an obstetrics and gynecology internship and residency.
